In all his instruments, Johann Daniel Dulcken pursues the idea of decoupling the soundboard from the string tension in order to give it the greatest possible freedom of vibration. North of the Alps, no one but he has undertaken the necessary constructional effort. Thus, his instruments stand quite alone in their breathtakingly elongated form and their overwhelming tonal carrying capacity in a large room.
